Given the recent attempted terrorist attack on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, the United States have tightened security measures on flights to this country. So in some European and American airports have started to discuss the option to immediately run a hundred 3D scanner. What will be the new protocol for security at airports ?
These scanners are designed to display an image of the person who makes them easily detectable presence of any object outside the body. That would be easily detected the presence of objects attached to her with unlawful intentions.
Momentarily most of these scanners are to begin to be used in the United States. But at the same time have created
controversy because the image that gives this unit is like a photograph of the naked person.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has reported that the scanner emits images of this type, but without identification, since the faces are erased. Similarly the staff responsible for reviewing images would be in a remote office, and only communicate with the security guards, so you never see the faces of passengers. Moreover, once it has passed the safety process, the image is deleted.
The scanner emits waves of radio frequency type that are 10,000 times smaller than that emitted by a mobile, creating an image of the body.
This test system is momentarily, but it is expected that by the end of 2010 is working extensively in the U.S. and it is proved truly successful in flights in Europe too.
