Checking Airport and Flight Status

It is important to re-confirm the status of your flight at least 24 hours prior to your departure. For the

most up-to-date flight status and information, contact the airline(s) directly.

FAA and DOT Airline Security Measures

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) have implemented airline security measures that have significantly affected the amount of time it takes to pass through security checkpoints. The following tips outline steps you can take to ensure that you will not miss your flight or be detained for any reason. Before leaving for the airport, call the airline directly or check its website to find out about flight status and wait times. Make sure that you allow sufficient time to check in with the airline and board your flight. If you use a car or taxi service for transportation to the airport, make sure that the company allows enough time for you to arrive at the airport early enough to make your flight. Plan to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before a domestic flight and two hours before an international flight. Travel light if possible - and always verify that your baggage identification is accurate, legible, and properly affixed to each bag. Remember that carry-on luggage is usually limited to one bag and one personal item per person. Personal items include, but are not limited to, purses, briefcases, and laptop computers. Note: Because airlines have different policies, you should verify carry-on policies with your airline(s) before leaving for the airport. New restrictions have been placed on last-minute requests to change flight times or routings. If you need to make a last-minute change and are already at the airport, contact an airline customer service representative as soon as possible, and they will explain the options available to you, or call a Travel Professional at 1.800.TRIP.COM (1.800.874.7266) for assistance.
