odonnell-townsend_cowboys-want-it_b0010xbgj05During the second half of 2009, and against the flow imposed by the recession to what art is concerned, Europe opened in various museums and galleries with exhibitions of excellent quality and presentation on a cultural and artistic heritage of 4,000 years.

Gallery of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The most interesting of these new galleries is a collection of notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci and some gothic pieces that deserve a visit. Currently the museum has the largest exhibition of objects representing the transition from the medieval to the Renaissance.

In an entire wing of the museum we see reflected in a wide range of objects the period between the

fall of the Roman Empire and the sixteenth century. The pieces have an artistic value in themselves and form an excellent historical context.

The Acropolis Museum, Athens.

The new museum at the foot of the ancient Acropolis is magnificent. While the museum was built on a policy to put pressure on other major European museums to return pieces that belong to Greece. Of all the marbles that were found with the Parthenon, only 1 / 3 are in the country. In the museum we can see how they were originally prepared, and the missing have been replaced temporarily by fiberglass replicas.

And to leave the visitors more than happy, admission is only $ 1.

Magritte Museum, Brussels.

Magritte was one of the most interesting and imaginative exponents of surrealism. the largest collection of works by the artist has finally made a special area of the Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels.

Hermitage Museum, Amsterdam

The museum houses temporary exhibitions of the Museum of St. Petersburg. Until January 31 2010 is an exhibition covering the Russian court. From March to September we visit an exhibition on early modern art. Very comprehensive and detailed in the quality of the presentations, worth a visit.
