A GARDEN
The most beautiful gardens are located near the Yangtze River (east China), especially in the cities of Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Wuxi. But the city that houses the most famous gardens throughout China is supremely Suzhou, named by Marco Polo as the Venice of the East. This is characterized by its wide range of gardens expanded along its entire
territory . The most popular
are the Humble Administrator's Garden (the largest of the set), the Master of
Nets Garden (small and simple but rich in landscapes) and the Liu Yuan (a fairly
large garden and very traditional architecture).
Her neighbor Shanghai is also home to an ancient garden frequented by tourists,
called Yu Yuan (Ming-era) and is located at the site of the ancient city. In
nearby Wuxi Jichang Garden is the most popular of all, while the Beihai Park and
the Imperial Summer Villa in Beijing are the most prominent, followed by the
gardens of the Forbidden City in the same city.
